Social Service Practitioner

The San Bernardino County Office of the Public Defender offers rewarding careers to Social Service Practioners (SSP's) who are committed towards supporting the successful rehabilitation and re-entry into society of juvenile and adult offenders.  Our SSP's link clients to community resources and provide clients with tools for addressing life problems and challenges that often extend beyond the boundaries of the courtroom.  Based on a client's special needs and circumstances, our SSP's can make useful evaluations for alternative placement and resolution.

As a result of our collaborative efforts with the San Bernardino County Probation Department, San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health, and San Bernardino County Law and Justice Committee, we have access to funding to support these positions.  We have also partnered with area universities who provide us with SSP interns.

Our SSP's are actively involved with the San Bernardino County Gang and Drug Task Force, the San Bernardino City Unified School District's Making Attendance a Priority, the Colton School District Project Comeback, and the Victor Valley High School Unified District's program Support Attendance for Education.
